Attraction is about four “friends” do little more than go about destroying one another’s lives. And what’s terribly disconcerting is the fact that there’s never any motivation provided for them to behave in such a manner. The talent Tom Everett Scott is wasted in a predictable performance that could’ve been so much more … the two-faced friend. The lovely Gretchen Mol (wasn’t she supposed to be ‘the next big thing’ in Hollywood a few years back?) is reduced to a sex object. The talented Samantha Mathis is the only character given more than a single dimension; perhaps if the film had spent more time exploring her plight, these 100 minutes might’ve been worth committing to celluloid. | ||

| I missed the theater version of Naked Boys Singing. Last night as I was going through the video section, I came across the video version – I had completely forgotten that it went to dvd. There is not much to say except that it is nude men singing on stage. A dozen or so various wangs are flopping around on stage belonging to every color, creed, size, hairiness of a man that you can think of. Naked Boys Singing is very campy, very gay and very amusing. There is a reason I don’t go to West Hollywood. A few of us went to celebrate our friend’s birthday friday night at Eleven. It started out fine, until 11 PM when a swarm came in and the place became over crowded with the the most obnoxious WeHo queens in town. If it wasn’t for the alcohol, I would have gone insane. Staring out over the crowd, I was beginning to wonder if the attitude was some requirement for entering the club. There where a few strippers dancing around on the boxes, sadly though, it was hard to enjoy them with that type of crowd. The worst thing than the fluttering little gay boys running around were the straight girls flashing their fake tits to the staff boys so that they can cut ahead of the lines. Eleven is actually a great place, during the week when the crowds are not so bad. But if you like being shoved, pushed, having drinks spilled on you – check it out on a friday night. |

Tuesday night I stopped by MJ’s to see a friend who was passing through town on his way to his new home up in Washington state.
